That's a big problem with defending Prop 8, there are a quite a few people who don't think having children is a basic part of marriage. To those people marriage is about love, romance, and shared interests. We have the Proclaimation to the family. There are many people who don't have that advantage(even though it is a revealation for everyone) and are voting "no" because they think it is the nice thing to do. Maybe they think homosexual marriage is a bit odd but they don't have any real guidelines in their life to understand what a family is supposed to be.
Maybe if we are headed for financial disaster in this country it will force people to get back to the basics of life and focus more on family.
