Can't believe they just said that...

So I'm in DI (a thrift store), when I see 2 employees gossiping about another one. I try not to judge that they're not doing a lick of work when one walks over to me.
"Are these ALL YOUR kids?" she asks.
"Sure enough" I say.
"Wow, how far along are you?"
"5 months."
And with a super sweet 16 year old naive voice.....
"I'm expecting my first, I hope I never get that big."

I stood there, pondering whether I should laugh in her face,
or give her a lesson in tact.
Instead, I smiled & told her good luck.
Oh, to be so young with such rosy colored glasses.

Wow, she's in for a treat. I have to give you credit for holding your tongue.

Wow. At DI they are supposed to be training employees to give good customer service. If it were me, I would call DI up and let the supervisor know that the employee was offensive, maybe not intentionally, but out of ignorance. It would be a good learning experience for her. She will be eating her words when she ends up humongous in a few months. You are hardly looking pregnant. At 5 months I looked ready to deliver. She would have had a valid point (although rude) if she was talking to me at 5 months! Keep your chin up - you look cute! :) Daneece

My mouth dropped open when I read this. I don't even know what to say. I think I would have asked her how old she was just to see her reaction after that comment.

Well I have to tell you that I have serious hopes to get that big someday...but then again I am 30 with no kids and I have lost my 16 year old voice all together!
